About mountain biking
What is mountain biking?
The Mountain biking, or MTB, is a relatively new sport built around riding down mountainous ground or anywhere with awkward terrain: gradients, obstacles and winding tracks. As well as being open to anyone and a genuinely entertaining way to stay fit, mountain bikes are hard to beat as a way of getting out into the landscape.
You can do it as a group, so all you have to do is talk the keener half of your friends into a mountain biking session. Descending country like this at speed on two wheels takes some beating.

A bit more about MTB
The term mountain bike covers a bike whose components are far tougher, because of what mountain ground does to them, and which has suspension, either front only or front and rear. The tyres are fatter and knobbly, so they soak up rough ground and give better grip. Frames also differ according to the suspension. A bike can be fully rigid, hardtail with front suspension, dual suspension without a pivot, or full suspension. On the technical side it is worth being advised by someone who knows the field: it avoids risks you do not need to take, and it makes the money you spend on kit last longer.
