They say that in life you should plant a tree, write a book and have a child. At GoRandom we want to go a bit further, because 2020 gives us an extra day to do whatever we set out to: 366 days to get to the top, literally and otherwise. If you are up for it, read on, because we are going to challenge you in the local idiom: “bet you haven’t got the guts to…?”.
Tell the people you care about that you do , and that you like spending time with them. Your parents, your partner, your friends, anyone who actually matters. It sounds easy, and it is surprising how rarely we say it. A hug never hurts either.
Look through your favourite band’s tour dates for the city nearest you and… go and shout every song at the top of your lungs . Music makes people happy — that much is established. Do not let the year go by without a good concert in good company.
Jump off something. You know the benefits of releasing adrenaline, but you have not found the moment to test it. Close your eyes and jump. The real danger is getting hooked on the weightlessness.
Walk out of the job that is making you miserable. It is one of the harder decisions and not one to take lightly. But if you have thought about it more than enough, and every day is harder than the last, there is only the last step left. It is never too late to start again.
Dance. Slow, close, salsa, bachata — the style is yours to pick. We are fairly sure it changes your week. Find the right partner and learn a thousand routines.
Do the sport you actually like. Exercise releases endorphins. Does that need adding to?
Eat something from somewhere else. All right, nobody eats better than in the Basque Country — but the world is too large and too good to stop at home cooking. Egyptian, Arab, Greek, Argentine grill, Thai. Let your palate have a year too.
We do not know whether the order in “plant a tree, write a book, have children” matters. What we do find out every day is that these things are worth doing with the people you like most.
