About hydrospeed

What is hydrospeed?

The hydrospeed is an individual sport where you are in the water the whole time, to the point that you feel part of the river. It means going down the river on a river board, in a heavy wetsuit, kicking with fins. Your legs stay in the water and keep moving; your arms hold the board and steer. It is an adventure sport on the rise and growing fast, because of how much it gives back.

You need to be reasonably fit to enjoy it, but no previous experience is needed— you only have to be able to swim and not be afraid of water. Depending on your age and fitness you can go for rougher or gentler water.

It is considerably more intense than rafting  and carries more risk with it: there is no raft around you, only the wetsuit and the board. A river is full of obstacles— rocks, tree trunks — and the speed of the water makes every one of them more dangerous. All you have is your skill, your strength and a cool head. Try it, in good company and with the best experienced instructors to make it work.

A bit more about hydrospeed

The hydrospeed is done alone and entirely in the water: you go down a river holding a river board. You also wear finsto push yourself along, and a wetsuit for protection. You slide down the river using the drive from your legs while steering with your arms, which stay in the water.

You need to be able to swim and to be comfortable in water. And how hard it gets depends on the river you are on and the water you are running.
