About canyoning

What is canyoning?

The canyoning is about as adventurous as a day out gets. You descend a canyon along a river, swimming and climbing your way past whatever the rock puts in front of you. There are routes for every taste, built around giving you a day you remember and matched to different ability levels.

This is an activity designed for groups. No previous experience is needed, but the weather at the start time is taken into account to keep everyone safe and make sure the session runs properly.

On the official website of the Spanish Mountain and Climbing Sports Federation (FEDME) you can look up the rules for canyon descents. As well as the regulations in force since 2008 and a bit of history, you will find calendars, prices, licences and insurance which matter a great deal in a sport like this one. Read up before you go and use a certified professional guide with years behind them: that is how you get the most out of it.
