We are doing more with our friends and family than we used to, and among everything on offer in the Basque Country one thing is pulling ahead: a game of laser tag.
It is open to any age, works at any time of year and is built for a lot of players. Three good reasons why it has taken off.

Wear dark clothes
The first and most important piece of advice, unless you want to be everyone else’s target.
The arena is black and lit only by neon, which turns a white shirt into a lighthouse. Find a black one.
Aim at what scores most
The aim is to score as many points as possible, so your team needs to know where the points are.
The first, and the hardest, is the other team’s base: whoever destroys it gets 2,001 points.
Unsporting as it sounds, shooting an opponent in the back is worth 100 points, and hitting their gun is worth 50.
Keep quiet
It sounds obvious and you will forget it the moment you walk in. Visibility is poor in there, so noise is what gives you away.
Find the best hiding place before anyone else
If you have played before you will know the arena and how much the right spot matters.
If it is your first time, find somewhere you can watch from and shoot without drawing attention. If nothing presents itself immediately, walk the arena and find it.
Do not run about aimlessly
Better still: do not run. You are in a nearly dark space with obstacles and changes of level. Running is a good way to hurt yourself.
Do not stay still too long either
You are playing against several opponents, so there is no relaxing. If running is a bad idea, standing still is worse: you become an easy target and they will corner you. Move, but do not switch off.
Play with your team
Laser tag is a team game, so do not forget the people in there with you.
Work out an attacking and defensive plan in which everyone has something to do.
Line up your eye with the gun
Before you start shooting, test the gun. The laser may not go where you think it does. Line your eye up with it first.
If you get hit, get out of sight
Do not stand there. There are a few seconds between the hit and your gun and vest coming back on, so move somewhere safe you can watch the arena from.
