Spring plans for getting outdoors

Contents

Spring brings more daylight, better weather and the chance of new things to do outdoors and outdoor activities — the sort of thing winter does not usually allow.

And the best way to make the most of it is with something different with your partner, family or friends. Here are some ideas for the season ahead.

The best spring plan: an active trip

First, we would suggest a trip to your favourite place or to somewhere you have been meaning to go for a long time and, for one reason or another, never have.

It could be a whole weekend at a country house well out of town, with the quiet and the change of scenery that takes you out of the city most of us live in.

A country house in spring

Another good option, if you want to use part of the weekend to do something outdoors. A great many country houses have activities ready to go — riding, for instance: horse riding.

If you would rather take it easy, spend the day visiting a coastal town , particularly if you like what happens when you put cliffs, beaches and the sea together, and enjoy the best surfing

If what you prefer is inland country, a good plan is a walk through one of our woods, with the trees coming into blossom. Whatever you like, there is something here for it.

Spring plans on wheels

This one is for anyone who loves a bike or an MTB — though beginners are of course welcome too. It works at any age, for adults and children alike.

A spring plan

Beyond a good day out and a very pleasant ride, there are real health benefits built into it: cycling improves your circulation, strengthens your immune system and brings your blood pressure down.

And for a gentle ride there is more and more room: cycle lanes in towns and cities, and greenways running out through the countryside where you can ride safely and quietly.

Do remember the safety side of it: wear a helmet, and check the tyres before you set off.

So there it is — this weekend you have a spring plan for the day. Get the bike ready and find a route you like.

Sport outdoors

In winter we are more or less obliged to do our training indoors, out of the weather.

Spring plans

With springthe weather improves, there is more sun, the days are warmer and there is more light. So the obvious thing is to move the training outside

Go out for a run or a walk, play football on an open pitch, do your routine in the open air — there are plenty of outdoor training ideas . Doing your sport outdoors is always better, and better still with plogging alongside it.

As you can see, this comes down to spring plans outdoors and doing what you most enjoy. What matters is that you use the time well, whichever activity you pick.

So choose your plan and organise it — or let us organise the perfect spring plan for you. Coming?
